Privacy Policy

Compare North is the trading name of the business that runs this site and decides how the information described here is used. Compare North is operated by a sole trader based in the United Kingdom. For anything relating to your information, email hello@comparenorth.com.

Your answers are sent to our servers so your Match Scores can be calculated. They are not linked to you, and we do not require an account, a name, a phone number or an address.

We keep this information because it is necessary to provide the service you asked for.

When results are generated we store a copy of them exactly as they were shown, under a long random link. This is what makes an emailed or revisited version match what you saw. Saved results contain no name, no email address and no other personal details, and the link cannot be guessed. They stop working and are permanently deleted 180 days after they are created, by an automatic daily clean-up.

If you choose a region in the Finder, that choice is saved in your own browser under cn.region so the site remembers it. Nothing is stored on your device before you interact with the site. We use no analytics, advertising, tracking or session-recording technologies, and no cookies are set on the public site. You can clear the stored preference at any time by clearing your browser data.

If you ask us to email your results, we store your email address so we can send that one message, and we keep a record of the send so repeat clicks don’t send duplicates. The email address is automatically erased from that record about 30 days after the request, by the same daily clean-up. The email itself contains your saved-results link.

We do this to provide something you specifically requested. We do not add you to a mailing list on the strength of it, and we do not sell or share your address.

You can separately tick a box to receive occasional Compare North research, guides and updates. It is optional, unticked by default, and not required to use the Finder, see your results, or receive your shortlist email. We rely on your consent for this.

When you tick it we keep a subscriber record with your email address, the exact wording you agreed to, the version of that wording, where you signed up and when. That evidence is kept while you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we keep a record of that decision so it can be respected in future.

You can withdraw at any time using the preferences link in our emails, or by emailing hello@comparenorth.com. Compare North is not currently sending marketing newsletters.

We keep the number of third parties deliberately small. Our hosting and database are provided by Lovable Cloud, which stores the information described above on our behalf. Email delivery is handled by Resend, which receives your email address and the contents of the message purely to deliver it. Both act on our instructions.

Some of these providers operate outside the United Kingdom, so information may be processed abroad under the safeguards those providers put in place. Web fonts are served from our own site, so loading a page does not send a request to any other company.

Some links to providers are affiliate links, and we may earn a commission if you sign up through them. This never affects your Match Score or ranking — see our Affiliate Disclosure. Once you follow a link you are on the provider’s site and their privacy policy applies.

You have the right to ask what information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, to receive a copy of it, and to withdraw consent to marketing at any time. Email hello@comparenorth.com and we will deal with it.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.

Compare North is intended for business owners, founders and people choosing tools for their work. It is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them, nor do we ask anyone’s age or date of birth.
